Understanding Air Freight Weight Calculations
In air freight, you pay based on whichever is higher:
Actual Weight: The physical weight of your cargo
Volumetric Weight: The space your cargo occupies
The Air Freight Weight Formula
Volumetric Weight is calculated as:
Volume (cm³) = Length × Width × Height
Volumetric Weight (kg) = Volume ÷ 6000
For example:
Package dimensions: 100cm × 100cm × 100cm
Volume: 1,000,000 cm³
Volumetric weight: 166.67 kg
Actual weight: 100 kg
Chargeable weight would be 166.67 kg (the higher amount)
